Mars exploration has made explosive progress in recent years, with missions bringing significant new findings, changing the way we view the Red Planet. One of the most important discoveries came from the Perseverance rover, which was launched on July 30 2020 and landed at Jezero Crater on February 18 2021. Jezero Crater was chosen because of evidence that this area was once a lake that stored water, opening up the possibility of microbial life in the past. Perseverance is equipped with a tool called SHERLOC (Scanning Habitable Environments with Raman & Luminescence for Organics & Chemicals), which is designed to detect organic materials and biosignature molecules on the surface of Mars. Initial findings suggest the presence of rich organic compounds, which could be a sign that life once existed there. This discovery is very important because it changes the assumption that Mars is a dry planet and inhospitable to life. In addition, the Curiosity rover, which has been operating since 2012, continues to provide data on the atmosphere and mineralogy of Mars. New analysis from Curiosity shows that Mars experienced extreme climate change, from wet to dry conditions, indicating the potential for increased biological activity in the past when water flowed freely on its surface. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) also provides important insights through high-quality images, showing the presence of brine flows on steep slopes that could indicate geological and hydrogeological activity that may still be occurring on the planet. This discovery made scientists think again about the possibility of modern microbial life that might lurk beneath the surface of Mars. While rovers and satellites collected data, the Phoenix Mars Lander mission in 2008 discovered water ice at the North Pole, providing a solution to the question of water availability. With these findings, scientists are starting to consider the possibility of future colonization of Mars. Ice utilities such as drinking water or raw materials for rockets can be of great significance in deeper exploration missions. In addition, new missions such as Mars Sample Return, which is planned to take samples of Martian soil and rock and return them to Earth, will be a key step in further understanding the composition and geochemical history of the planet. Technological regeneration and the search for a human colony on Mars continue to be a focus. Missions like Starship by SpaceX aim to create more efficient transportation. Scientists hope that discoveries from Mars could spark innovations that change our understanding of life, other planets, and even planet Earth. The success of Mars exploration relies not only on advanced technology, but also increasingly intensive international collaboration. Projects such as ExoMars, involving European and Russian space agencies, demonstrate the importance of global cooperation in achieving shared scientific goals. Several discoveries on Mars have changed the narrative of astrobiology research. With each new mission, we get closer to answering the age-old question: are we alone in the universe? Findings on Mars, which previously seemed unattainable, now open up many possibilities that inspire the imagination and aspirations of humanity.
